BIEK Announces New Admission Rules for Students

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced new admission rules for students starting this year. These changes will affect students seeking admission to the first year of intermediate studies across Sindh.

Starting from this year, admissions for the first year of intermediate will be based on Class IX results. Students with A1 or A grades will have the advantage of open merit seats, making it easier for top-performing students to secure their spots.

In Karachi, the college zone system will remain in place. This means that most students will need to apply to their nearest colleges. However, students with A1 or A grades can apply to any college in the city, giving them more flexibility.

Director General of Colleges, Zahid Rajpar, explained that government colleges in Karachi are divided into seven zones. Seventy percent of admissions will be based on these zones, while thirty percent will be open merit.

A total of 267,087 candidates across Sindh will be able to apply under these new rules. Classes are set to begin on August 5, 2024. Students can apply for admission through the official website seccap.dgcs.gos.pk.
